Qais bin Mohammed Al Yousef,
Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion stressed that the forum
and the accompanying joint exhibition highlight the depth of the fraternal ties
between the two countries. He added that the successive visits of the
leaderships of the two countries this year affirm the depth, strength and
importance of this relationship.
In his speech, the minister
said: “The State of Kuwait is a strategic partner of the Sultanate of Oman, and
we are determined to consolidate our economic relationship in accordance with
the leaders’ directives and boost areas of trade and investment cooperation in
priority sectors, which will contribute to generating job opportunities and
enhancing sustainable development in both countries.”
Al Yousef expressed his hope
that the forum would focus on opportunities for joint trade and investment
cooperation, increasing the volume of trade exchange, exchanging expertise and
knowledge, and building strategic partnerships between companies and
businessmen in both countries.
After that, the Small and
Medium Enterprises Exhibition, accompanying the Oman-Kuwait Economic Forum was
opened. As many as 70 small and medium enterprises including 50 Omani
enterprises in the food, handicrafts, technology and other sectors participated
in the exhibition.
The forum included bilateral
meetings between Omani companies and their Kuwaiti counterparts and businessmen
from both countries, with the aim of exploring opportunities for economic and
trade cooperation and establishing trade partnerships between them.
The several-day forum and the
accompanying exhibition are organized by the Supervisory Team for the Promotion
of Omani Products (OPEX), represented by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and
Investment Promotion, the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Public
Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises Development, and the Public
Establishment for Industrial Estates (Madayn), in cooperation with the Kuwait’s
Ministry of Commerce and Industry and the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and
Industry.
